Ottoman Silver Altmışlık Sultan Abdülhamid I AH 1187
A large and impressive Ottoman silver Altmışlık (60 Para / 2 Zolota) struck at the Constantinople mint (Kostantiniyye) in AH 1187 (1773/74 AD), during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid I (r. 1187–1203 AH / 1774–1789 AD).
The obverse bears the Sultan's titles in elegant Ottoman calligraphy: Sultan / wa Khaqan al-Bahrayan / Sultan al-Sultanat referencing his sovereignty over the two seas. The reverse displays the mint name Kostantiniyye (Constantinople) with the regnal year AH 1187, the denomination 60 Para, and the accession year notation, all in fine thuluth script.
The coin presents with a dark natural patina consistent with age, with legible legends on both sides despite circulated wear a substantial and collectible example of late 18th century Ottoman imperial coinage.
