Old Syrian wooden box decorated throughout with fine geometric mosaic inlay. The lid and sides are built up with intricate bands of contrasting woods, small geometric marquetry elements and mother of pearl accents arranged in traditional Syrian patterns.
The interior is wood lined and fitted with an older burgundy textile lining. Brass tone front clasp and hinges. The workmanship appears hand assembled rather than modern printed decoration, with the small individual inlay pieces clearly visible.
A decorative storage or jewellery box with attractive age, surface wear and patina.
