A Commanding Presence in Pure White Porcelain
A striking and finely modeled Chinese porcelain sculpture of a rearing horse, executed in the revered blanc de chine tradition all white, unglazed in texture yet brilliantly lustrous in finish. The horse is depicted mid rear, its mane flowing, adorned with a bridle, chain bit, and decorative saddlecloth rendered in fine relief detail. The figure rises from a naturalistic rocky base with leafy ground cover, mounted on a polished lacquered wood oval stand.
Three impressed seal script marks appear on the underside of the base, attesting to the sculptor or manufactory a hallmark of Chinese studio porcelain production. A sculptural statement piece that commands attention on any mantelpiece, cabinet, or collector's display.
