The long tapered steel blade is extensively hand engraved with foliate and linear decoration and features a distinctive pierced openwork section through the centre. The dark horn grip is ornamented with traditional brass circle and dot inlays and small red coral inserts, complemented by an engraved brass collar.

The construction, pierced engraved blade, horn grip, brass inlay and coral decoration are characteristic of historic Bizerte weapon making traditions in Tunisia. A strong decorative North African weapon with genuine age, surface patina and considerable hand workmanship.
