A magnificent example of Thuringian German lace porcelain at its finest, this large standing ballerina figurine radiates graceful movement and exceptional craftsmanship. Dressed in a voluminous pink and white multi tiered lace skirt with hand applied floral rosettes and a deep magenta corset bodice, she dances on a gilded oval base scattered with modeled flowers.
The celebrated Spitzenplastik fired lace technique, achieved by dipping real fabric in liquid porcelain slip before high-temperature firing, preserves every delicate ruffle and thread in permanent hard paste porcelain. This demanding process is the hallmark of the finest Thuringian ateliers and accounts for the extraordinary lightness and detail of the skirt.
