Handmade Syrian folding game board crafted in detailed Damascene marquetry, using numerous small pieces of contrasting wood arranged in intricate geometric patterns.
The exterior forms a chess/checkers board, while the interior opens to a traditional backgammon layout. Small mother of pearl accents are incorporated among the interior geometric inlays, adding subtle highlights to the woodwork.
The board shows the fine hand cut, assembled and inlaid workmanship associated with traditional Syrian decorative woodworking.
Natural age related wear and minor surface variation remain visible.
