Large vintage ship’s compass by C. Plath, Hamburg, mounted in a full gimbal ring designed to keep the compass level while a vessel moves. It features a 360° graduated scale, cardinal direction markings, metal housing and glass cover. The instrument shows authentic age related wear and remains an impressive example of mid 20th century maritime navigation equipment.
