Pair of Antique Persian Cobalt Blue Glass Ewers with Gilt Decoration
A striking pair of antique Persian cobalt blue glass ewers, each decorated with hand applied gilt foliate and floral motifs against a deep royal blue ground. The rounded globular bodies rise to tall elegant necks with flared rims, fitted with loop handles and curved spouts. The gilt decoration features large leaf forms interspersed with fine scrolling tendrils, applied in the traditional Persian gilded glass manner.
One ewer retains its original spout; the second shows a chip to the spout tip consistent with age and use. Both pieces display natural patina and minor surface wear throughout. Sold as a pair.
