An antique Persian silver cigarette case, richly hand engraved on both sides with dense figural, floral and bird decoration. One face depicts a large courtly gathering scene with numerous figures in traditional dress, while the reverse is filled with birds, flowers and scrolling foliage.
The case is further engraved along the edges and retains its original aged surface, scratches, wear and patina. The interior bears a Persian maker's/workshop mark together with an 84 silver standard mark, traditionally corresponding to approximately 875 silver fineness.
