Original Umayyad silver dirham struck at Wasit (واسط) in AH 105 (723–724 AD), during the reign of Yazid II ibn Abd al Malik. The coin carries the traditional post reform Umayyad Arabic inscriptions, including the declaration of faith and Qur’anic verses, surrounded by finely beaded circular borders. This example has a broad flan, strong central legends and attractive natural toning.
