Pair of Syrian Walnut Folding Chairs with Mother of Pearl Inlay

A fine pair of Syrian folding chairs (kursi) in dark walnut, richly decorated with hand carved geometric and arabesque ornamentation across the entire frame. Each chair features a tall crested back with a pierced trefoil arch panel at centre, framed by panels of interlacing geometric latticework and bordered by fine arabesques. Delicate mother of pearl inlay accents are set into the seat and back panels, adding a restrained but elegant contrast to the dark walnut ground. The seats are shaped with a gently scalloped edge and decorated with a central mother of pearl floral rosette. The X frame folding base is engraved along its length, maintaining the decorative unity of the piece.
