Pair of Antique Bohemian Cobalt Blue & Gilt Glass Bottle Vases

An exceptional matched pair of Bohemian cobalt blue glass bottle vases, richly decorated with dense gilded ornamentation covering every surface. These commanding pieces exemplify the finest traditions of 19th century Bohemian decorative glassware deeply colored, elaborately gilded, and beautifully formed.

Each vase features a globular faceted body rising to a long cylindrical neck with a gilded rim band, set on a scalloped lobed foot. The decoration is extraordinary in its density and precision: alternating panels of gilt floral sprays (roses, acanthus scrolls), Greek key meander borders, crosshatch filled cartouches, and star cut circular medallions. The neck carries arched oval panels with foliate motifs, while the foot is adorned with gilt scroll work.
