An exceptional Limoges porcelain dinner plate from the prestigious house of L. Bernardaud & Co., produced in the celebrated "Cheverny" pattern. The plate features a richly gilded scalloped border with two bands of embossed gold foliate decoration, and at the centre a finely detailed gilt Cedar of Lebanon motif the national emblem of Lebanon.
The underside bears the full maker's mark: B & Cº / Limoges / France / L. Bernardaud & Co. / Limoges / "Cheverny" / Véritable Incrustation / Deux couches Or mat / Brun à l'Agate, confirming double layer matte gold inlay finished with agate burnishing a hallmark of Bernardaud's finest production. The RL monogram in gold stands for République du Liban (Republic of Lebanon), indicating this was a bespoke state commission most likely produced for official Lebanese government or presidential service.
