Antique Syrian Inlaid Copper Box Damascus, Dated 1914
Antique Syrian copper box in the Damascene decorative tradition, richly worked with geometric star motifs and flowing floral arabesques across the domed lid and sides. The exterior retains its original aged surface with visible patina, scratches, tarnish and wear consistent with age.
The interior is lined in deep blue fabric, and the underside bears an Arabic workshop or maker’s mark with what appears to be the date 1914. The decorative style and construction are consistent with early 20th century Syrian craftsmanship.
